Initial appointment-Comprehensive dental hygiene assessment to determine the oral health

Medical and dental history review:

Periodontal assessment and charting
Periodontal probing
Oral health screening
Assessment of plaque, calculus, gingival tissues, periodontal conditions, etc.
Dental hygiene diagnosis/assessment for purposes of developing a dental hygiene care plan
Dental radiographs when legally authorized and appropriately indicated

Basic Cleaning & Fluoride Treatment

An oral prophylaxis is a teeth cleaning procedure that thoroughly cleans the teeth, including most stains. As part of preventive care for a patient who is in a healthy periodontal state. It is an important preventive measure to help stop the progression of gingivitis and periodontal disease. The type of dental cleaning needed is determined at the first visit with the assessments provided by your hygienist.

Deep Cleaning/Quad With Irrigation,

Deep cleanings are usually scheduled in two separate appointments. (limited or full SRPs plus irrig). Performed by scaling & root planing, also known as non-surgical periodontal therapy. A procedure involving removal of dental plaque & calculus and then smoothing, or planing, of the (exposed) surfaces of the roots, removing cementum or dentin that is impregnated with calculus, toxins, or microorganisms, the etiologic agents that cause inflammation.

Dental Irrigation Per Quad

Dental irrigation is used to flush out and clean the area involved. For the patients with periodontal issues the pockets area around the gum and tooth is irrigated out with medicine or sometimes an antibiotic mixtures. This is performed case by case.

Dental Sealants/Per Tooth

Dental sealants are a dental treatment intended to prevent tooth decay. Teeth have recesses on their biting surfaces; the back teeth have fissures & some front teeth have pits. It is these pits & fissures which are most vulnerable to tooth decay because food & bacteria stick in them & because they are hard-to-clean areas. Dental sealants are materials placed in these pits & fissures to fill them in.

Fluoride Treatment Only

A dental fluoride treatment is a procedure that hygienists can perform during a routine dental assessment or cleaning to apply fluoride gel, foam, or varnish to teeth. Fluoride treatments can help prevent tooth decay & strengthen tooth enamel, which can reduce tooth sensitivity and the risk of cavities by about 25%.

Nutritional Counseling
